Display|Bedford Stuyvesant Library
This project challenges the form of the traditional bookshelf and to create a system which could display the book as a way to attract readers. There are various events host in the library for users in different age group and create a sense of community.
Going through space, the first area the user will see is the reception area on the left of the entrance, which is next to the area where the events for children hosted. There is a partition on the right to the reception area where librarians could hang the event posters information and introduce the feature books of the week. The curve of this partition also leads you looking to the right, which is the teen area and the bookshelf area. Over this partition wall, there is the meeting area and the support of the circular staircase which creates spaces underneath for individual users. The focal point of this circular shape is the video chat area for each family. On the back of the library, the bookshelves, which serve as support for mezzanine, become another partition that creates an area for individual users, who could see other users upstairs by looking up from the double ceiling height area. Upstairs, there is a personal space around the focal point. And there is the meeting area in the front.
